Frequently Asked Questions

Is the sink included?

On most sizes, yes: a white porcelain rectangular basin already set into the top, with the faucet holes drilled. A few sizes are sold without a basin for people fitting a vessel bowl, and those say so in the title.

Will one of these fit a cabinet from another brand?

Often, since 24, 30, 36, 48, 60 and 72 inches are industry standard widths. Measure your cabinet box and compare it to the top dimensions listed on the product page, and check the depth as well as the width.

What is the thickness?

3cm, with an eased front edge. That is the standard for furniture grade vanities and thick enough that the top does not need a plywood substrate under it.

Does quartz stain?

It resists staining far better than natural marble, because it is non porous and does not need sealing. Avoid leaving hair dye, nail polish remover or bleach based cleaners on the surface, and wipe spills rather than letting them dry.

Can I get a matching backsplash?

Yes, cut from the same slab in the same colour and in matching widths. Order it with the top so both arrive together.

James Martin Vanity Tops

These are the countertops that come with the vanities, sold separately. People buy them for three reasons: a top got chipped or stained and needs replacing, a builder grade cabinet is worth keeping but its cultured marble top is not, or a bare vanity cabinet was bought and now needs a surface.

Every top is 3cm engineered quartz with an eased edge, and the white porcelain rectangular basin is already set into the cutout on the sizes that include one. Faucet holes are drilled at the factory. Sizes run from 15 inches for a narrow cabinet up to 72 inches with two basins.

The surfaces

  • Eternal Jasmine Pearl and Eternal Marfil: warm marble looking veining
  • Ethereal Noctis: dark ground with dramatic white movement
  • Charcoal Soapstone: matte and dark, the quietest of the range
  • Plain whites and greys: for bathrooms where the tile does the talking

Measuring for a replacement

Measure the cabinet box, not the old top, then decide the overhang. Half an inch on each exposed side and at the front is the norm. Check your faucet drilling before ordering: single hole, three hole with an eight inch spread, or widespread, since the holes are cut at the factory and cannot be moved later.

Matching pieces

Backsplashes are cut from the same slabs in the same widths. The full category page, including tops from our other ranges, is vanity tops.

Tops ship on a freight pallet with the sink installed, delivered curbside. They are heavy and rigid, so plan two people and a clear path.
