Sealed marble resists water and most spills. What marks it is acid: lemon, vinegar, wine and some cleaners etch the surface. Honed stone hides those marks far better than polished.
Carrara or Calacatta for a floor?+
Carrara is greyer with fine, even veining and costs less, so it suits large floors. Calacatta has bolder veining on a whiter ground and reads more dramatic, which often works better in a smaller room or as a feature.
Is white marble slippery?+
Polished marble is, especially wet. Honed and tumbled surfaces give grip and are the right choice for a bathroom or an entry.
How often does a marble floor need sealing?+
Once a year is the usual rhythm, more often in a kitchen. Test it by dripping water on the stone: if it darkens within a few minutes, it is time to reseal.
White Marble Floor Tile

For a floor, honed is the finish to choose. It is matte, it gives grip and it hides the small etches that daily life leaves on marble. Polished white marble is stunning on a wall or a vanity and slick underfoot in a bathroom.
Seal the stone before grouting and once a year after that, and keep cleaning to a pH neutral product. Treated that way a white marble floor stays as it was, and it can be refinished decades later rather than replaced.
