Frequently Asked Questions

What size is a tile sample?

Samples are a full-size piece of the tile, not a small chip. For sheeted mosaics, that is a single sheet. Seeing the real piece is the only way to judge veining, finish and scale properly.

How do I order a sample?

Open any product page. If that tile can be sampled, an Order Sample button sits next to the price. Add it to your cart and check out as usual. You can order samples of several tiles in one order.

How many samples can I order?

You can order one sample per product, and several products in one order. Because samples are full-size tiles, orders are limited by shipping weight, so very large orders may need to be split.

Which tiles have samples?

More than a thousand of them. Every tile that can be sampled is gathered in our Tile Samples collection, and the Order Sample button appears on those product pages automatically.

Will the tile I order look exactly like my sample?

Very close, but stone is natural, so color and veining vary from piece to piece and between production lots. Your sample shows the character of the stone rather than an exact copy of every tile in the box.

Can I get help choosing?

Yes. Call us or send a message with the room, the light and the pieces you are choosing between, and we will narrow it down with you before you order.

Why a full-size sample, not a chip

Our samples are the actual tile, not a two-inch fragment. Natural stone varies from piece to piece, and a small chip hides exactly what you need to judge: the scale of the veining, how the finish catches light, and how the color shifts between daylight and lamplight. Seeing the full piece is the only honest preview.

How to use it once it arrives

  • Put it where it will live. Lay it on the floor or hold it against the wall in the actual room, not on a desk.
  • Look at it twice. Once in daylight, once under the bulbs you use at night. Warm light pushes beiges yellow and softens grays.
  • Set it next to your fixed things: cabinets, countertop, the flooring you are keeping, the vanity you already bought.
  • Check the finish, not just the color. Polished reflects and deepens; honed and tumbled read lighter and give more grip underfoot.
  • Try your grout. Hold a grout chip against the tile. Matching grout makes one calm field; contrasting grout turns the same tile into a pattern.

How to order

Where a tile can be sampled, its product page has an Order Sample button next to the price. Add the tiles you are choosing between, check out once, and compare them side by side at home. If you are deciding between materials rather than shades, order one from each material so the comparison is real.

Every tile on this page can be sampled, and each product page carries the full specification, coverage and current stock.
