Some stones are known by name, because once you have seen them you recognize them anywhere. If you already know the look you want, start here: every stone below comes in tiles, mosaics and matching trim, so a whole room can be finished in one stone.
The marbles and granites people ask for by name, each with tiles, mosaics and matching trim to finish a whole room.
A best-seller from each stone, with plenty on hand for a full room.
Every space we have photographed, by the stone it is cut from.
Carrara is the classic Italian white marble: a soft white to light gray background with fine, feathery gray veining. It is calm and forgiving, and it suits almost any bathroom or kitchen.
Calacatta Gold has a brighter white background than Carrara and bolder veining in gray and warm gold. Choose it when you want the stone itself to be the statement.
Bianco Dolomiti sits between the two: a white background with soft gray veins that are more defined than Carrara's but quieter than Calacatta's.
Thassos is quarried on the Greek island of the same name and is one of the whitest marbles there is, with little to no veining. It gives a clean, bright, modern look.
Crema Marfil is a Spanish marble in warm beige and cream, with subtle veining. It brings warmth to traditional and Mediterranean spaces.
Black marble pairs a deep black background with white veining for high contrast. Absolute Black granite is a dense, uniformly black stone without veining, and harder than marble, which makes it a strong choice for floors and heavy use.
A polished finish reflects light and deepens the color and veining; it is at home on walls and in low-traffic rooms. A honed finish is matte and smooth, shows fewer scratches and etch marks, and is the usual choice for floors and showers.
Stone is natural, so color and veining vary from tile to tile and from lot to lot. Order a sample to see the stone in your own light before you buy.
