Basalt · Slab
Two batches of basalt sit in our Fairfax warehouse, each batch a group of slabs cut from one block so the veining stays close from one piece to the next. Vulcano Gray Honed Basalt Slab Random arrives in 1 1/4 inch thickness with a matte honed face that softens the stone's natural gray tones. The slabs come in random sizes, currently 68x120 inches and 67x120 inches, and are sold by quote rather than by the square foot. A licensed fabricator templates and installs each slab, and delivery moves to their shop by A-frame truck within fifty miles or by crated LTL freight beyond that.

Design
The stone reads as a consistent gray with a fine, even grain that feels solid under the hand. Light catches the honed surface without glare, leaving a matte look that hides scratches and etching better than a polished face. Each slab carries its own size and its own markings, so the veining shifts from one piece to the next. You will see variation in the gray tones and in the width of the dark streaks. Two batches sit in stock, and slabs from the same batch match most closely.
The honed face stays matte and softens the gray without glare.
Slabs arrive in 68x120 and 67x120 inch sizes, cut to order for walls and counters.

Where to use it
This basalt suits residential countertops, residential interior walls, and commercial interior walls. It fits well in the kitchen and the bathroom, where the honed finish handles daily wear. A licensed fabricator templates and installs the slab, so the stone goes straight from our warehouse to their shop. Slabs from one batch match most closely, which helps when you need several pieces side by side. The stone is dense and less porous than marble, but it still benefits from a sealer in wet areas.
Rated for both residential interior walls and commercial interior walls.
Suitable for residential countertops in the kitchen or bathroom.
Why we chose it
Wipe spills promptly with a pH-neutral cleaner. Use coasters under glasses and trivets under hot pots to protect the honed surface. Reseal periodically as recommended by your fabricator.
