Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between clay brick and brick look tile?

Clay brick tile here is fired clay cut to a brick face, as in MSI's Doverton Gray, Alpine White and Noble Red mosaics. Brick look tile is porcelain shaped or printed to look like brick, such as Montenapoleone and Brera.

What size is a brick wall tile?

MSI's clay faces are 2.25x7.5, with corner pieces in 2.25x10.75. Thin brick comes in 2 1/8x7 1/2, 2 1/4x7 7/8 and 2 1/4x7 9/16, and the brick look porcelain in 4x24.

Is there a white brick backsplash tile?

Yes. Alpine White clay brick, Retro Brick Bianco porcelain and Blanco Marjinal marble look porcelain are white brick tiles listed for backsplashes.

Do clay brick mosaics have corner pieces?

Yes. Doverton Gray, Alpine White and Noble Red each come with corner pieces in 2.25x10.75 for outside corners.

Is brick tile listed for shower walls?

Some is. The fluted thin brick, Pure White, Blanco Marjinal and the Montenapoleone and Brera brick look tiles have shower wall listings. MSI's clay mosaics are for backsplashes, interior walls and floors instead.

Clay mosaics from MSI

MSI's clay brick comes as 2.25x7.5 brick faces on a mesh back, 1/2 inch thick, in three colors. Doverton Gray is described by MSI as a reclaimed clay brick in gray and white hues, Alpine White as a classic white, and Noble Red as a rustic red with a tumbled finish, which MSI describes as set in a herringbone pattern. Each color has matching corner pieces in 2.25x10.75 for outside corners. Doverton Gray and Alpine White have a natural finish.

What is thin brick tile?

Thin brick is a slim brick-shaped tile, here in glazed and fluted versions from Stone Tile Depot. Pure White is a glazed thin brick in 2 1/8x7 1/2, and Atlantic is a glossy blue thin brick accent tile in 2 1/4x7 7/8. The fluted pieces in 2 1/4x7 9/16 have a ribbed face: Topaz in glossy yellow, Rose in leather pink and Ocean in leather blue. More slim brick-shaped tile is in thin brick.

Pattern mosaics in marble, glass and porcelain

Brick pattern mosaics set small pieces in a brick bond on a sheet. Arctic Storm is a honed gray marble in 0.625x2 pieces, Retro Brick Bianco a matte white porcelain, Colosseo Azul a blue glass mosaic in 1x4, and Blanco Marjinal a polished marble look porcelain in 3x6 staggered on 12x12 sheets. These give a brick rhythm in stone, glass or porcelain in place of clay.

Porcelain decorative tiles in 4x24

Montenapoleone in gray and Brera in beige are glazed brick and stone look porcelain decorative tiles in 4x24. Both have interior wall, outdoor wall and shower wall listings.

Which brick tiles are listed for a backsplash or shower?

Backsplash listings cover the MSI clay mosaics, the brick pattern mosaics and the fluted thin brick, on top of their interior wall listings. Shower wall listings go to the fluted Topaz, Rose and Ocean pieces, Pure White, Blanco Marjinal and the two 4x24 brick look tiles. Interior floor listings add the MSI clay mosaics, Pure White, Blanco Marjinal, Retro Brick and Arctic Storm.

Which colors are there?

White comes in Alpine White, Pure White, Retro Brick Bianco and Blanco Marjinal, gray in Doverton Gray, Arctic Storm and Montenapoleone, red in Noble Red, and blue in Atlantic, Ocean and Colosseo Azul. Brera is beige, Topaz yellow and Rose pink. More wall tile in every material is in wall tiles.

Which tiles are listed for a kitchen?

Most brick tile here has kitchen, bathroom and living room listings: the clay brick mosaics and corners, Pure White thin brick, Retro Brick Bianco, Arctic Storm, Blanco Marjinal, and the Montenapoleone and Brera brick look tiles. Atlantic has a kitchen listing and Colosseo Azul kitchen and bathroom listings. Of the fluted thin brick, Topaz goes to bathrooms, and Rose and Ocean to living rooms.

Natural, tumbled, glazed or polished?

The finish follows the material. Doverton Gray and Alpine White clay brick have a natural finish and Noble Red is tumbled. Pure White thin brick and the Montenapoleone and Brera tiles are glazed, Atlantic and Topaz are glossy, Rose and Ocean have a leather finish, Arctic Storm is honed marble, Retro Brick Bianco is matte and Blanco Marjinal is polished. A natural or tumbled brick shows the clay, while a glazed or glossy one shows color and shine.

How thick are the tiles?

MSI's clay mosaics are 1/2 inch. Thin brick is 3/8 inch in Pure White and Atlantic and 9/16 inch in the fluted Topaz, Rose and Ocean pieces. The Montenapoleone, Brera and Blanco Marjinal porcelain is 25/64 inch, Arctic Storm marble 3/8 inch, Retro Brick porcelain 1/4 inch and the Colosseo Azul glass about 3/16 inch.
