What is a wood look paver?
A wood look paver is a porcelain paver whose face reproduces the grain, knots and color of a wood plank, in the same thick outdoor body as a stone look paver. Every wood look paver here is tagged for outdoor floors. They are porcelain, not wood, so the look of a board comes from the printed face, and the matte surface shows the grain without a sheen.
Frontier20 by Landmark Ceramics
Frontier20 is Landmark Ceramics' 20 mm outdoor porcelain line, and it has six wood faces. Soul Walnut, Soul Grey, Essence Brown and Essence Grey come as 12x48 planks, and Pepper and Walnut come as 24x24 squares. Landmark describes the grain as running the full length of each plank, so the pattern does not repeat in short blocks. Each color goes by its own name, and every Frontier20 wood look paver here also has a pool and spa listing.
Caldera and Lucas by MSI
MSI Surfaces adds two wood look lines, both slightly thinner at 0.78 and 0.79 inch. Caldera comes as 16x47 planks in Grigia, listed as gray, and Blanca, listed as white, and MSI describes it as a rectified wood look plank in greige tones with knots and graining that can be seen and felt. Lucas comes as 12x48 planks in Betulla, listed as brown, and Canitia, listed as gray, with the look of natural hardwood. Caldera works on interior floors as well as outdoor floors, with kitchen and living room listings, and Lucas stays on outdoor floors.
How do wood look pavers differ from stone look pavers?
Frontier20 wood look pavers share the same porcelain body and outdoor face as the Frontier20 bluestone, limestone, travertine, slate and quartz looks; the difference is the printed face and, for the Soul and Essence lines, the long 12x48 plank shape. The stone faces in the same line include Bluestone Full Color, Indiana Buff Select, Travertine Cross Cut Cream, Montauk Black slate and Arctic White quartz, and Landmark makes the wood faces in the same 20 mm format. Stone look and natural stone pavers in other sizes are in porcelain pavers and pavers.
How do the Landmark and MSI pavers compare?
The two suppliers differ in thickness, shape and listings. Frontier20 pavers are 20 mm, while Caldera and Lucas are 0.78 and 0.79 inch. Frontier20 comes in 12 inch wide planks and in 24x24 squares, Lucas in 12 inch wide planks, and Caldera in a wider 16x47 plank. Pool and spa listings belong to Frontier20, and interior floor listings to Caldera, which also covers outdoor floors. All of them share a matte face.
Which colors are there?
The Frontier20 colors go by name instead of by color group: Soul Walnut, Soul Grey, Essence Brown, Essence Grey, Pepper and Walnut. The MSI colors are listed by color group: Caldera Grigia as gray and Caldera Blanca as white, and Lucas Betulla as brown and Lucas Canitia as gray. The Caldera pair is described by MSI as greige, a mix of gray and beige, with visible knots in the grain.
Which are listed for pool areas?
The Frontier20 wood look pavers, the 12x48 Soul and Essence planks and the 24x24 Pepper and Walnut squares, are listed for pool and spa areas. The MSI Caldera and Lucas pavers stay on outdoor floors without a pool listing. Stone look and natural stone pool pavers are in pool pavers, and for wood look tile indoors, see wood look tiles.
