Red glaze on a small field
Barcelona is a 4x8 ceramic accent tile finished in a deep red glaze. It is made for interior walls and is meant to sit inside a field of plain tile, as a band, a border or a scattered accent. The glaze is glossy, so the red shifts with the light through the day and wipes clean with a cloth. Each piece is 3/8 inch thick, covers 0.22 square feet and is sold on its own rather than by the box. Colour sits in the fired glaze, which means the last piece in a run matches the first.

Colour in the glaze
Red is the whole argument here, and the gloss is what carries it: a glazed face throws light back in a way paint never does. Each piece measures 4x8 inches on a 3/8 inch body, the usual thickness for a glazed wall tile. Because the colour lives in the glaze rather than in the clay, it stays even from piece to piece and does not fade where the sun hits it. Gloss is honest about what is behind it, so a flat, well floated wall matters more here than it would with a matte tile. Against a white or unglazed field the ceramic red reads warmer still.

Where to use it
Bands, borders and wall runs
These are interior wall tiles: a band through a field of plain tile, a border at eye level, the course above a wainscot, a frame around a mirror or an opening. Each piece covers 0.22 square feet and is sold on its own, so measure the run in inches, divide it by the tile, then add a piece or two for the cuts. A glazed clay body scores and snaps, which makes a long row of accents quick work compared with stone. Plan the layout from the middle of the run so the cut pieces land at both ends instead of stacking up at one. Keep them off floors and away from anything that freezes, since the body absorbs more water than porcelain.
Sold by the piece
Each 4x8 piece covers 0.22 square feet. Measure the run, then add pieces for the cut at each end.

No wet saw needed for straight cuts, which keeps a small accent job simple.

Care
The glaze needs no sealing. Wipe it with a standard tile cleaner and keep abrasive pads away, since they dull gloss long before they clean anything.
