A square foot at a time
Emperador Light is a beige marble tile cut to 12x12 and polished to a shine. One piece is exactly one square foot, which makes estimating unusually painless: eight pieces to a box, eight square feet, and 60 square feet lands at nine boxes with the usual waste allowance.
Design
Polish and what it does
Buffing marble to a mirror deepens both colour and veining, so a beige that looks quiet unpolished gains warmth and contrast. That same polish is less forgiving, showing etch marks and wear sooner than a honed surface would, which is why the rating here stops at light residential traffic. Bodies here are 1/2 inch. Beige marble tiles in this colour also run at 5 1/2x5 1/2 and 24x24.
Colour deepened
Polishing pulls more warmth and vein detail out of the stone.

Where to use it
Light floors
Residential light floors is the rating on file, with living room as the room. Because every tile comes from a different part of the block, laying out several boxes before setting spreads the variation instead of stacking a dark patch in one corner. A matching 4x36 threshold exists for the doorway. Order about 15 percent over the measured area, and more if the layout runs diagonally.
Dry lay first
Mixing pieces from several boxes keeps veining spread across the floor.
Threshold to match
A 4x36 piece in the same stone finishes a door opening.

Care
Sealing comes first, straight after installation, then again every one to two years. Acids are the real enemy: lemon, vinegar and wine etch polished marble quickly. Clean with a pH neutral stone cleaner and keep bleach, ammonia and abrasive pads away from it.
