VASE WATER FOUNTAIN
A tall blue glazed vase with a U shaped channel cut into the front face. The outside is smooth and glossy, the inside of the channel is deliberately rough and dark. Water rises at the top, runs down the channel wall, and returns. A warm LED sits at the top edge where the water emerges.
The two surfaces are the design. A smooth glazed vessel is a familiar object. Opening it up to show a coarse unfinished interior sets the two textures against each other, and that contrast is what makes it worth a second look on a console or a shelf.
At 10.6 inches wide and 10.2 deep this is larger than a desk fountain and smaller than a floor piece, which puts it on a hall table, a sideboard, or a wide shelf rather than beside a keyboard.
Very quiet. Water runs down the channel wall in contact with the surface rather than falling clear, so it never lands and there is no impact note. That makes it suitable for a room you work or sleep in, where a cascading tabletop fountain would be too present. It will not mask conversation or traffic. How loud it seems will shift with the water level and whether it stands on a hard surface, which is why a fixed decibel number would tell you nothing useful about your own room.

Fill it, plug it in, done. Set it level, since a tilted vase sends the flow down one edge of the channel rather than evenly through it.
Put something under it. Any indoor fountain throws a small amount of fine spray, and on an untreated wood console that shows over months. A tray or a mat solves it.
A saturated blue needs a wall that agrees with it. Pale neutrals, white, and warm wood all work. Against a strongly colored or busy wall the glaze competes rather than reads, and the channel detail gets lost.
Keep enough water in the reservoir to cover the pump so it never runs dry. A small indoor reservoir drops faster than you expect, particularly with heating on, so check every few days rather than weekly.
Use filtered or distilled water if your tap water is hard. On a glazed surface mineral film shows within weeks rather than months.
Wipe with a soft cloth and keep abrasives and harsh liquid cleaners off the glaze. In hard water areas a pale film builds where the water runs, and on a dark blue it shows clearly. Clean it before it sets. Rinse the pump every few months, since small pumps clog sooner than large ones.

Larger than one. At 10.6 inches wide it takes about the area of a dinner plate and has more presence than a small desk piece, which puts it on a hall table, a sideboard, or a wide shelf rather than beside a keyboard.
Yes, if the wall behind it is quiet. The form is simple and the contrast between glaze and rough channel is contemporary. What it needs is a neutral background, since a saturated blue against a busy wall stops being a feature and starts being noise.
Among the quietest indoor pieces here. The water stays in contact with the channel wall the whole way down, so nothing falls and nothing lands. People choose this type for a bedroom or a room they work in.
A tall narrow vessel on a table can be pulled over, so keep it back from edges and out of reach of small children and cats. Run the cord where it cannot be pulled. The recirculating water is not intended for drinking.
