Marble · Above-Countertop sink
This round vessel sink is shaped by hand from a single block of black marble quarried in Turkey. It is 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, with polished surfaces inside and out. Natural veining runs across the dark stone, and since every block is different, each sink carries its own pattern of grain and colour.

Design
The form is simple: a round bowl with curved walls and a soft rim. Starting from one block and shaping it entirely by hand keeps the walls solid and even, 2 to 3 cm thick from rim to base. The polish gives the black real depth. It reflects ambient light in a soft sheen and lets the veining show as fine lines across the surface. Because the polish runs over the whole interior and exterior, there are no grooves or rough patches for soap scum and mineral deposits to cling to. The circular outline adds a soft, organic note that works as a counterpoint to the straight lines of a vanity, a mirror or tile. Moderate colour variation and distinct grain from piece to piece are normal for black marble, and they are part of what makes each sink one of a kind.
A smooth, reflective finish that gives the black depth and leaves no grooves to trap debris.

Where to use it
The style is traditional, and the deep tone sits comfortably beside light or dark counters, painted or wood cabinetry and most tile. In a contemporary or minimalist bathroom it becomes a single dark accent; in a traditional or transitional room it pairs with brass, marble and warm wood. At 16 inches across, the bowl suits standard bathroom layouts without awkward overhang, and the 6 inch height gives practical volume without crowding a compact vanity. The 4 cm drain opening accommodates standard drain fittings. The sink has no overflow, so it is fitted with a drain that does not need one.

Installation
Solid marble is heavy, so the counter must be flat, level and strong. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in silicone. Because the sink has no overflow, the drain assembly should be one made for sinks without an overflow. The bowl stands 6 inches above the counter, so the faucet must reach over the rim: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted faucet. Settle on the faucet before the counter is cut, so the faucet hole and drain hole are placed together.

Why we chose it

Made to order
GMSTONE makes this sink to order on two production schedules, both in the 16 inch size with a polished finish. The 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. Each sink is packed securely for transit. GMSTONE can also make the bowl in a custom size or finish. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the counter.
Black marble is a porous calcite stone, so acids such as vinegar or lemon can etch dull marks into the polished surface, and sealing keeps water and minerals out. How often it is resealed depends on use, typically once a year.
