Travertine-Onyx · Above-Counter sink
This round sink is carved from a single solid block of travertine onyx quarried in Turkey, a stone that carries the warmth of travertine and the banding of onyx in one piece. Its beige base runs to honey and cream, with flowing golden veining that moves around the bowl. Because each sink is carved individually, no two are the same, and the one that arrives carries its own geological character. It measures 16 inches in diameter and 6 inches high, with a 4 cm drain hole. A stone bowl like this suits a bathroom where the vanity is meant to feel deliberate rather than purely functional, and its warm, organic tone sits easily in many settings.

Design
The bowl is honed inside and out, which gives it a smooth, matte surface. A honed face shows fingerprints and water spots less than a glossy one and keeps the stone's natural character on view, so the cream and golden bands read softly rather than with shine. The shape is conical: the sides slope from a wide rim toward the drain, which directs water to the center of the bowl. The walls are between 2 and 3 cm thick, solid stone all the way through. Curved edges and a smooth, matte finish make the bowl easier to clean, since there are no tight corners where soap and residue collect. Moderate color variation between pieces is normal for this stone, so the balance of beige, honey and gold differs from bowl to bowl.

Where to use it
The sink can be installed two ways. Set on top of the counter as a vessel, the whole conical bowl stays in view and becomes the focal point of the vanity. Set beneath the counter as an undermount, the rim disappears and the bowl reads as a quieter basin under a stone or wood top. The beige and honey tones suit warm wood, cream stone and plaster, and they work in rustic and minimal bathrooms alike. At 16 inches across, the bowl fits a powder room vanity and is still roomy enough for a primary bath. The 4 cm drain hole takes standard drain connections either way, and the solid stone wall gives the bowl a steady, substantial feel.

Installation
Solid stone is heavy, so either installation needs a flat, level and strong counter. As a vessel, a drain hole is cut in the counter to match the 4 cm drain, the bowl is set in silicone, and the faucet must reach over the 6 inch rim: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. As an undermount, the counter is cut to the size of the bowl and the sink is supported from below, so the cutout should be made with the sink in hand. Most vessel installations pair best with a taller faucet, so choose the faucet before the counter is drilled. An installer familiar with stone is recommended for both methods.

Why we chose it

Made to order
GMSTONE makes this bowl to order on two schedules: the 3 to 4 week option ships sooner, while the 8 to 14 week option is the lower-priced choice. GMSTONE can also make the sink in a custom size or finish. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the counter.
Travertine onyx is a porous calcite stone, a living material that changes over time: acidic substances such as lemon juice or wine can etch the honed surface and leave a slight dulling. Sealing at installation slows the absorption of liquids, and how often it is resealed depends on use.
