Limestone · Sit-On sink
This circular vessel sink is carved by hand from solid white fossil limestone quarried in Turkey. It sits fully above the counter, so the basin becomes the main feature of the vanity rather than a hole cut into it. The stone is pale and quiet, and small fossil marks, soft color shifts and natural texture run through it. Those marks are part of the limestone itself, so every bowl carries its own pattern and no two sinks from the workshop are the same. The rim is sloped rather than flat, which gives the bowl its distinctive profile: one side stands taller than the other, and the line of the rim falls gently between them. The sink comes in two sizes, a 16 inch bowl for a powder room or guest bath and a 20 inch bowl for a larger primary bathroom. Both are made from one piece of stone, with no joints, liners or added parts.

Design
The whole sink, inside and out, has a honed, matte finish. Honing leaves limestone smooth to the touch but without shine, so the surface reads soft and warm rather than glossy, and it shows fewer water spots and fingerprints than a shiny face would. A matte stone is also less slippery under wet hands. Because the same finish covers the interior and the exterior, the bowl looks like a single carved object from every side. Inside, the basin walls curve down toward the drain without sharp corners, which keeps the interior easy to rinse and leaves fewer places for soap to build up. The sloped rim is the signature detail: on the smaller sink the bowl rises to 8 inches at its high side and 6 inches at its low side, and on the larger sink to 14 and 12 inches. The fossil pattern, the tone of the white and the spacing of the marks will vary from sink to sink, and moderate variation between pieces is normal for this stone.
The same soft, low-sheen finish on the interior and exterior, carved into the stone rather than applied.
One side higher than the other, so the bowl has a moving profile instead of a flat top line.

Where to use it
The 16 inch bowl, at 8 and 6 inches high, is the compact choice. It suits a powder room, a guest bath or a narrow vanity where counter space matters, and it still leaves room around the basin for soap and a towel. The 20 inch bowl, at 14 and 12 inches high, is a much larger piece meant for a primary bathroom, where the sink is the focal point of the room and the vanity is wide enough to frame it. White limestone is calm next to wood, plaster, painted cabinetry or darker stone tile, and it fits contemporary, transitional and traditional rooms alike. Limestone reads subtle and earthy where many marbles read bold, which makes it a good match for a quieter, more understated bathroom. Both sizes have a 4 cm drain hole that takes standard drain fittings.

Installation
This is a sit-on sink: it rests on top of the vanity rather than being dropped into it. Solid limestone is heavy, especially in the 20 inch size, so the counter must be flat, level and strong enough to carry the stone. A drain hole is cut in the counter to line up with the 4 cm drain, and the bowl is set in a bead of silicone. Because the rim stands well above the counter, the faucet has to reach over it: a tall deck-mounted vessel faucet or a wall-mounted spout. A common vessel sink mistake is a vanity that ends up too tall once the bowl is added, so the cabinet height is worth checking against the bowl height before anything is ordered. Choose the faucet early too, so its reach suits the bowl and the supply lines can be run to match. A professional installer is recommended.
Why we chose it

Made to order
Both sizes are offered on two schedules. The 3 to 5 business day option ships soonest, while the 8 to 14 week option is made to order and is the lower-priced choice in each size. If neither the 16 inch nor the 20 inch bowl suits the vanity, GMSTONE can make the sink in a custom size or finish. To start a custom order, contact us with the measurements of the counter.
White fossil limestone is a porous calcite stone with a honed finish. Acidic liquids such as citrus or vinegar can etch it, and sealing helps keep moisture and stains out of the surface. How often it is resealed depends on how much the sink is used.
